Research In Motion have gone all the way with the Bold

BlackBerry’s have always been the first choice for mobile professionals on the move thanks to easy to use efficient messaging system and user interface. But the Bold cranks things up a notch or two….

As a mobile phone it gets 3G, GPS, and Wi-Fi, and the HTML email support is a first for Blackberry. HTML support allows you to view newsletters as they were intended, including images!

The inclusion of 3G (HSDPA) 3.6Mbps, and Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g) make this unit excellent for web browsing, however the browser does get a little sluggish with graphics intensive sites.

Weighing in at 133 grams, the Bold is a little chunky and won’t fit comfortably into your top pocket, but that’s a small trade-off for the large 2.6 inch 480x 320 resolution lcd screen, which produces a stunningly sharp and clear display. And a 1500 mAh battery (310 hours stand-by) which is good for around 2 – 3 days use.

Adding to the sleek, smart looking display is a new set of transparent icons, giving the Bold a sophisticated look.

At only 2 megapixels, and with no auto-focus, the camera produces surprisingly good photos. But don’t go and buy it for  video recording, playback is pixelated and jerky.

Running on the latest Blackberry OS 4.6, this unit comes with only 1Gig of built in memory, but of course you can add memory with a microHDSC up to 8Gig.

The Bolds full QWERTY keyboard gives you total control of what you’re writting,no predictive text or pressing a button 3 times. The well spaced, cushiony  buttons each have a protruding ridge, giving an excellent tactile feel. The Bold’s keyboard is one of the best you’ll have the pleasure of using.

The pearl Trackball navigation is comfortable and within thumb reach, and works similar to a computer mouse.

The sleek looks are topped off with a soft leathery backing, that add’s a luxurious feel.
